Vampire the Masquerade

So, my neighbor got me into this cool RPG (roll play game) called Vampire the Masquerade. If you’ve never heard of it, welcome to the club. I hadn’t till literally last Thursday. I love RPGs. I used to do the D&D thing in high school, and a little after. I haven’t done anything like that in decades. That’s right, there is an “s” at the end of decade. I was telling my neighbor that I was bored and wanted to do something like it when he mentioned stumbling on the discord server that hosts this super fun RPG that meet once a week for live events and they are near us! I was like, “SIGN ME UP!”
Now, I suck at making character sheets. Always have, which is odd because character development is my favorite thing to do for my books. My characters are extensively developed! Luckily for me, there are a couple sites I could use to start the creation of my vampire character (because of course I’m a vampire). I made one up fairly quickly so I would have something to use for the in-person event that night. Bird wasn’t completely figured out, but she was better than nothing. Quickly realized after starting the story line that she was a bit lame. So, when I got home, I made sure to spend most of Friday “fixing” her.

That’s not the point though. The point is that I got to make some new friends! I’m learning a new game, and it is so fun. A lot of it is done on discord since we can’t meet up every day. It’s a lot of storytelling and writing, and has really helped with my writing funk the last 2 months. Right now, I do a lot of reading of the other storylines happening, trying to see where I can integrate my character. Some of these awesome people have more than 1 character they play at a time. I don’t think I’ll be able to do that. 1 is enough work for me for sure! It is giving me some great novel ideas though!! So, if you’re someone that like D&D, RPGs, even LARP, you should really look for something like this around you. I know the server I’m on has a lot of people in other states as well. It’s not my server, so I don’t feel comfortable sharing their stuff.

These people all seem really cool. They’re all wicked patient with me. I’m seriously like the worst player currently since I don’t know anything about this game. I’m being a good little student though. I bought the players book (waiting for it to get delivered), and have been trying to read the few info sites I’ve been given from the STs (Story Teller). ST is a DM, just with a different name LOL!! Anyway… sorry for the super off topic blog, but I’m so stoked about this thing, I had to share!
