I’m not gonna lie and say I don’t pay attention to drama. Because we ALL want the tea. I will say though, that I don’t get involved. I’m like a ninja in the shadows. I observe and enjoy the entertainment of it all. I got out of high school 18 years ago… the only drama I ever enjoyed at that time was being apart of musicals and plays. I didn’t care who was dating whom, or who was cheating on whom in the sense of, it wasn’t my business. But I’ll tell you, I sure got a kick out of listening to the “he said/she said” of it all. As an author, that shit makes for good story telling!
The latest author drama circling around the author world has something to do with an author not paying royalties to other authors in an anthology that was taken down, then put back up or something? I don’t know all the details. I haven’t heard all the tea. I’ve been busy working on a new project, and I just DON’T CARE. It’s their issue, so I don’t know why anyone else is involved… okay, that’s a lie… I know why others are involved…
You see… when someone feels they’ve been wronged by another, they want to share their anger and get people on their side. They want validation that their right, even if the people validating them don’t know the entire story. Same with the “wrong do-er”. They also want people on their side validating that they didn’t actually do anything wrong. That’s how the drama happens. People want to get involved, usually because one of the parties is their friend. Others want in because they like to stir the pot. How long you brew tea depends on your preference. I like my tea strong, so it will take a lot to get me to want in on the pot being brewed. (You like what I did there?)
My point is… we all need to stay out of it. We’re only making it worse by not only taking sides, but inserting ourselves into the issue as if we were the ones directly involved. It’s definitely something that should have been handled behind closed doors. If the person feeling wronged didn’t like how it was handled, then they should have gone the legal route. Because, lets be honest, spouting hateful comments all over the internet is childish. To me it looks like a desperate attempt for attention. I’m not saying that their accusations are incorrect. Again, I don’t know the details, and I DON’T WANT TO KNOW.” It’s NOT my business. I just feel that the whole thing could have been handled better. I’m not choosing sides, and if someone takes this blog post as me choosing sides, you are mistaken. The only side I’m choosing is the side of, I’m getting back to my writing. I’m staying out of it and this is my only opinion on the matter.
Like all Author Drama, I’m sure this will all blow over when something else interesting pops up. So until next time witches!
