This Year is just FULL of Surprises!!

So, back in January, I got the first surprise of my life… A positive pregnancy test. For some quick back story, my hubs and I of 17 years, had been told about 3-4 years ago that we only had about a 8% chance of getting pregnant after going to multiple infertility specialists, as well as attempting multiple IUI’s. The only reason we didn’t do IVF besides the cost ($25,000) was because the doctors’ said the chances of that working was about 18%. So, we resigned that we would never have kids. I’d never get pregnant. And we would just be the fun Aunt and Uncle to all my friend’s kids.
I took a test on January 18th because I was about 3 days late (this is actually very normal for me) and I had a weird feeling. I was so in denial with the positive test that I was that person who went and bought like 4 more tests to take. Then we went to my primary doctor, and got the confirmation. Since I’m 37, I’m considered “high risk” because of my age. So, we spend the next few weeks just kind of wrapping our heads around the idea that we are actually pregnant and having a baby. They wouldn’t schedule my first ultrasound until after week 8, so on week 9 day 3, we went into the sono appointment, all ready to see out baby….
Make that BABIES.

That’s right… twins. Not only did I defy the odds of getting pregnant at all, especially for my age. But I’m having twins. They’re called Di/Di twins. 2 separate eggs, so they each have their own little apartment separate from each other. Apparently this is great because there’s less risk for them to wrap cords around each other and so on. It also means we can end up with: boy/girl, boy/boy, girl/girl. Both are also an interesting anomaly according to the sono tech. Twins usually measure about a week off from each other. So one will measure 9 weeks, and the other 8 weeks. NOPE! Both are measuring 9 weeks 3 days. They both also currently have the same exact heartbeat of 171!! It was so cool to hear it too. Since it is Twins, I am 100% high risk now. We are doing a genetics test in a couple weeks, then another sono with the high risk doctor.
So yea! What a year! Meet the Frost Twins!!!
