Viva Las Vegas

Hubs and I took a trip to Las Vegas! It was the first time I’ve ever been there, and hubs hasn’t been since he was in High School. Since we went to hang out with an author friend of ours, we got the locals tour of the area, instead of the straight tourist tour. It was really cool to see so much in such a short time. Definitely need to go back as we didn’t get to see even half the stuff we wanted to on this trip. Vegas is one of those places where you need a year just to see almost everything. I swear, you’ll never truly see everything Vegas has to offer.

I got to see the Grand Canyon on our flight in! It is on my bucket list to see in person, but this was still really cool. Then we went to Red Rock Mountains and saw the lovely colors of the mountains. It was so pretty! Moving on to visit the Hoover Dam (another bucket list item). I didn’t want to go in the dam as there were just too many people, but I really enjoyed seeing it and driving on it. It is so big. I also thought it was cool that you were in Nevada and then drive over to Arizona. So I guess that means I got to mark 2 states off my list instead of 1. Then we went to this cute little town where big horn sheep come down from the mountain and chill out in the local park. They just walk through the streets and everything. It was really cool to watch. They are so chill, and are so used to people. I was tempted to go pet one, but I have a feeling they would have not liked that. Sh!t, I’d pet a croc if I wasn’t worried it would take off my hand…

We saw a lovely fountain show, the Volcano show, and then braved Fremont Street. Apparently the Volcano is about to be demolished, so I’m glad we got to see it before it’s gone forever. Vegas is a city of change. Nothing lasts, and as our friends told us, there is no “history” in Vegas. They like to keep switching things up. That means every time you visit, there will be something new. Fremont Street was an experience for sure. Tons of mostly naked people walking around trying to make you buy a picture with them. Don’t get me wrong, some of those guys were yummy, and the girls were hot, but I’m not paying to take a picture with a stranger. If you were a celeb, then maybe. It was cool to experience the night life. I’d like to go back and try the zip-line. It looked really fun. We were only there for about 2.5 days, so we crammed a lot into that time. We also were both not feeling great because of the horrid flight, so that limited us on time as well. We got to see a lot of “other Vegas” as I call it. The area not the strip. Next time maybe we’ll spend more time on the strip.

We also got to go see snow. It was so weird that it was 100 degrees on the strip, and about 76 degrees on the mountain. It was a lovely view as well. We were lucky to go during a crafting fair, and I found a couple goodies. I’d love to go back sometime and snowboard. I think that would be really cool since after I could go down and chill in a pool. Then we flew home on yet another crappy flight. I’m not a fan of Southwest. Their planes need some seat upgrades. My tailbone still hurts… Anyways… Vegas was cool. I recommend going sometime. We plan to go back again soon. Hubs wants to see Penn and Teller. I want to go to a couple shows as well as try out the Strat! They have a repel ride where it’s like sky-diving except you’re hooked to a rope. We have a list of all the things we want to do, and slowly we will tick those off, one by one.
