I find it fascinating that people aren’t reading blogs anymore. And if you are one of the few that still are reading them… thank you! I used to post a new blog every few days. I haven’t posted in about a week because I wanted to see what the algorithm would show me if I didn’t keep posting. I went from getting about 3-10 reads a day, to none. And I don’t think it’s because I didn’t post for 5 days. I think people are getting lazy. They don’t want to read drama or new information. They want to SEE it. TikTok, FBReels, InstaReels, SnapChat, etc. has made everyone lazy. Like, really lazy. Now, don’t get me wrong… I love vegging out and watching some reels on my phone, but I’m not about to rely on that for new information. I prefer blogs that give me all the tea.
So, what is happening with out society? Everyone is now expecting information without 30 second videos? It’s literally making each generation more and more stupid, and more and more unable to focus. I’m also a teacher. Getting kids to focus for 15 minutes used to be the norm, and that was hard enough because that’s a lot of information in such a small time. Now these kids can’t focus for more than 30-90 seconds… That’s not good. You cannot get even a small iota of information in that time. It’s one of the reasons I hate TikTok. I hate Reels. I’m an adult, so i know how to focus when I need to, but kids don’t, and we are just letting it happen. Every year I watch kids get more and more misbehaved and more and more ignorant. I can blame parents, I can blame teachers, I can blame unrealistic standards… but the truth is that these kids spend all their time on 30-90 second videos, so they have not learned, nor does it seem like they ever will learn, how to focus on something for a minimum of 15 minutes.
So, I doubt many (if any) will read this because I firmly believe that blogs are dying out. Being replaced by 30-90 second videos. I love blogs. I love reading information from people that took the time to write it down. One of the reasons I became an author. I hope that someday, things will get better. There’s a quote from someone, “we used to think that stupidity was because of lack of access to information… it wasn’t that”. We literally have google at our fingertips and are still a society of idiots. It makes me real sad…
