Every Halloween hubs and I go big and stay home! We get the big bars to hand out! We’re the, “Oh! They have the big candy!” house.
This was a tradition my mom did from the time I was 10 until she passed away. She would get big Hershey bars from the Whole Sale Club and would get almost 200 kids every year because word travels fast when you have full size candy. One of the things I talked hubs into doing when we got our own house was to continue the tradition. We go to Costco during their candy sale and get the big boxes of full-size bars. Of course, we put the ones we aren’t super fond of in the bowl first. Then we start adding in the rest as the bars start becoming scarce. Oddly enough the kids seem to love the ones with almonds which are my least favorite.
What is your favorite Halloween candy? Growing up, I loves the Twizzlers and Reese’s. As an adult I love Milky-way, Reese’s (still), and 100 Grand. We manage to make the candy last for the whole year, having a bar here and there. This year I’ll be taking a few to the students in my first period High School Math class. They’re my Guinea pig class. I’m subbing and have never taught High School, so they are a great group of 7 kids that let me try the lesson on them, figure out what all I need to really focus on, and are so nice about it too. They deserve some candy.
So, what do you do for Halloween? Do you go out trick-or-treating? Do you hand out candy? If you hand out candy, is it big bars? What’s your favorite?
Also, don’t forget the candy tax if you’re a parent!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!
