Holy crap is it hard bouncing from Author me, Wife me, and Work me! Not to mention Daughter me, Fur-mom me, Friend me, etc. I know that MANY of us wear multiple hats. As a teacher, I’m pretty used to doing multiple things at once. Since I’ve chosen to focus on Author me and my mental health this year, I’ve been trying my best to get into some kind of schedule. It’s been crazy, especially with a HUGE event coming up in less than a month! Usually, I just throw things together and hope for the best. With being able to completely focus on one thing at a time (and not have to worry about working on top of this), there is soooooo much more that goes into getting ready for an event. I’m not sure if I like having all this time to prepare or not. There’s something about last minute “oh crap, I forgot something” that really gets the blood going!
I have so much happening for this event that will continue on to future events as well. Salem in September has opened my eyes and my mind to things I want available at my signing table. New bookmarks, stickers, goodies for those that purchase, and more! I have a new banner, some awesome new swag, and some more ideas that keep happening. Every book purchase will include a “reader card” that has a list of my books on it. All the titles are handwritten because I never figured out how to print them out. A lot of my new stuff is handmade, so you will be getting something special and unique. I have new gear I’m going to be sporting as well!! (See previous Blog Posts)
My house is a mess of Author Sh!t. I have been trying to work on author things until hubs gets home from work around 4pm, and then do some house stuff until we have dinner around 7:30… It’s a slow work in progress because I also have to reorganize all my teacher stuff into totes so they can stack in the garage properly. I’ve only been a full-time teacher for 3 years and I already have 8 full totes of stuff that I don’t want to get rid of. It’s insane. I feel like I get one step ahead in one area, and then five steps behind in another, and it keeps doing that. *sigh* No rest for the wicked…
