Excerpt: Love & Dog Tags

This is a small excerpt from an exclusive novella that currently is only found in Flirty in Kansas City Anthology 2022. I have yet to decide if I will make this into a printed novella, or just leave it as an exclusive.

Chapter One: Sergeant Mac Keller

“Mac, you just need to tap that and be done.” My battle, Sergeant Taylor Johnson, says as he watches Specialist Harley Diamond smile at me for probably the thousandth time. Harley Diamond is a cute Specialist with raven hair and brilliant blue eyes. She’s petit and beautiful, but she can kick ass. She’s also lower ranking than I am, which is slightly frowned upon. Currently we were off post and out of uniform, hanging at a local bar. Harley walks in with a couple other girls from our unit, probably friends. I hadn’t seen her around many people, usually because she is hanging around me. Of course, I know about her crush on me. She had said something to our old battle buddies that moved, but I can tell.

“Nope. I’m set for a long while.” I retort. TJ knew my past, and knew that I was not looking for anything serious.

“Maybe she just wants a quickie?” TJ smiles, nodding at Harley and her friends. The group makes their way over, and I just want to strangle my roommate. I was trying hard to ignore the girl, and TJ is making that real difficult.

“I feel like I’m supposed to salute you.” Her voice is sweet and girly. She sounds happy while teasing. I down my beer, wondering if I can talk TJ into leaving now. He’s busy flirting with one of the girls that came with Harley.

“I won’t tell if you don’t.” I say to her, trying to be a jerk. It was easy to be nice, it is hard to try to ignore her. She’s easy to talk to, and great to look at. Her head cocks to the side a bit as she continues to smile. “What are you drinking?” I ask, noticing that I need another beer.

“Anything except beer.” She smiles. “I hate beer.” She giggles. I can’t help smiling. I head to the bar and grab her a vodka cranberry and get myself another beer. TJ is still flirting it up with one of the other girls, and I wonder if I’ll end up going home alone. “Can I ask you a question?”

“I guess that would depend on the question.” I say, trying to find something I don’t like about the woman in front of me.

“Why did you join the Army?” Not the question I was thinking she would ask. Most girls start with favorite color, or food. Some will try to impress you with questions about sports or cars.

“My grandpa was in the Army during World War II. I was always proud that I had family that fought to protect my country, and I wanted to continue that. I want to make a difference.” I shrug.

“That’s really cool.” She smiles. It’s awkward, trying to pretend I don’t like talking to her.

“I’ve gotta grab TJ. I’ll see you tomorrow.” I say, chickening out. I can’t talk to this woman without sounding like an idiot. She smiles again, turning to her friends. I walk over to my battle, grabbing his arm and pulling him away from the girl he was talking to. “I gotta go.” TJ looks over my shoulder before rolling his eyes.

“Mac… you’re a pussy.” He says, downing his beer and heading for the door. I follow him out. He stops, turning back to look at me. “Ya know what? No. We aren’t leaving. You are going to go over there and hang out with your soldiers like you would do anyone else. We are going to have some beers, shoot some pool, and just chill.” TJ demands, and I can feel my cheeks heating in embarrassment. I never ditch a chance to hang with my Joes… even if they happen to be some Janes.

“Change of plans?” Harley asks as we make it back to the group. A few guys have joined, flirting with the girl TJ had left a moment ago. Harley hands me a fresh beer, as if she knew I was going to come back.

My door slams open from the force I used to kick it in, not moving my lips from Harley’s sweet ones. I know I’m drunk, and she’s drunk, but neither of us seem to care at the moment. After a couple rounds of darts, drinks and heavy flirting, TJ had left with her friends, and I offered her a ride home. As soon as we got into my trunk she jumped into my lap and kissed me. Her boldness turned me on, and it was a struggle to drive back to my apartment with her grinding against me and kissing my neck. Her legs wrapped around my waist as I walked from the truck to my room. She’s easy to carry, and I’m even tempted to fuck her against the wall.

“Stop thinking so much.” Harley’s voice sounds in my ears as she grinds against me again, making my eyes cross. I stumble through the apartment, barely making it to my bed before her fingers are pulling at my clothes. A little voice in the back of my head tells me that we should probably slow down, but the little brain straining behind my zipper wants nothing more than to be buried deep in her p***y.

“Harley, we should stop.” I say, trying to catch my breath. She smiles, pulling off her top before sliding down and standing in front of me. She pulls off her pants, standing naked. She apparently doesn’t care for underwear.

“Really Mac? You want to stop?” She questions, but I can’t seem to find words. “That’s what I thought.” She says before jumping into my arms again, the only thing between us is my stupid jeans.
