How Do You Write on the Go?

For Christmas 2022, my amazing hubby got me a Free Write. If you are wondering what that means, it’s the little typing thing shown above. NO THIS IS NOT A PLUG. I don’t get any money or anything for telling you about this thing. IT’S JUST FREAKING AMAZIN! It completely removes all distractions from a computer or tablet. It only allows you to write. And if you’re someone like me that gets caught up by going back to edit, it kind of hampers that as well. You can edit on it, but it’s kind of a pain to do, so instead, you are just forced to write. It’s designed to help you get the story out of your head, and worry about editing and social media later.

Just this past Monday I had it with me for a flight from Syracuse, NY to Kansas. I started writing at about 10:30am before I got on my first plane. The first flight was about 45 minutes, and I was at the airport almost 2 hours early. I got a good amount done before we landed for my connection flight. I only had about an hour before my final 3 hour flight. From 10:30am (eastern), to 8:30pm (central) I wrote over 11k words!! As shown, it’s the perfect size to sit on those itty bitty tray tables. I was able to write and have my complimentary drink and snack without losing space. We all know how stupid tiny planes are.

What’s nice is that when connected to WiFi, your stories will upload to their PostBox so that it’s not only saved on the device, but also online so that you can rest easy knowing that you won’t lose your work. I had a few scares when I couldn’t connect to WiFi, and I was worried the story wouldn’t save, but after realizing that the internal saving works just perfect, I lost all those worries. It can hold dozens of stories before it needs you to sync to PostBox. You can even set it up to sync to other places like Google Docs.
