Would you like to know more?

Some of you have possibly been following me on social media for a long time. I’d like to think that anyways. I have a feeling that most of you are very new to me, or still getting to know me. Well, let me tell a bit about my Author self; more than what is simply found in my bio.

I started writing when I was in Elementary school. In fact, I still have my original “published” books that my elementary school did for us. I have always loved reading and writing. I love coming up with stories and thinking up characters. I’m usually really good about creating titles for stories, or coming up with my own twist on classics. I did a lot of writing in High school with Fan Fiction being my go-to. I did a creative writing class my senior year that I did very well in. My teacher told me she couldn’t wait for my first book to be published. Unfortunately I lost touch with her through the many moves of my adult life, but I hope she would be proud of me. I looked up to her a lot and thought about her often when I was first writing The Witch’s Savior. Ms. Fogereight, if you’re out there, I hope I made you proud.

The Witch’s Savior was the first story I came up with that wasn’t a Fan Fiction of any kind. The idea came to me in a recurring dream. It was one of those dreams that would just not leave me alone until I got it on paper. It was also the book that really opened my eyes to the dangers of the Author world and how “publishing companies” will 100% take advantage of someone that is new to Book World. I got taken to the cleaners for over $3500 by a company that promised to get my books in stores, get my book in the hands of thousands of readers, all the fluff of a new author wanting to be someone. They did publish my book for the fee above. They didn’t do any of the other things they promised, and I soon learned the hard way that I should have self published. To be sure, I did do a lot of research on them before signing a contract. They were very good at hiding their true nature. If Page Publishing ever reaches out to you, run very far far away. I struggled for over a year while stuck in that contract to try and get my book seen, and reviews written. Even now, 9 years later, I’m still struggling to get reviews for any of my books. However, with my first one, I at least know it wasn’t entirely my fault.

After that, I republished the book and worked on some anthology pieces while I plotted out Book 2. I know The Witch’s Savior would not be the only book for that series. In fact, I knew it would be a series of at least 5 books. That’s why I dubbed the series: The 5 Witches Series. Book 2, The Witch’s Soul, fought me hard. I was stuck for over 3 years with writers block on where I wanted that story to go. Authors don’t kid when they tell you that characters will do their own thing and not stick to the original plan. My characters were pissed and wanted nothing to do with the story at one point. The Witch’s Soul is very dark compared to the first book. My characters got mad, and they made sure every one knew.

While struggling with book 2, I wrote 2 short novellas. One for a Dirty Fairytale anthology. I did a fun and sexy twist on The Little Mermaid. It has been one of my most popular books, though I still don’t have a lot of reviews for it. The second was supposed to be for a military anthology, but I didn’t feel the story was ready in time for release, and one thing I learned is that with military, you want to do it justice. So I held off on submitting it with the anthology, and decided to publish it solo. I really love the story. It’s a cute romance that plays off a lot of relationships I observed when my husband was in the service and I tagged along as the “Army Wife”. I still enjoy reading it, as well as my other books. I’m a sucker for my own stories I guess.

That brings me up to about the present time. Right at the New Year I had a story hit me like a freight train. I sat down and typed non-stop for 3 days straight. Wrote over 60k words in 3 days. Had an ENTIRE book done in 3 days. That has never happened to me in my life. It also made me a little egotistical and I thought I would be able to write non-stop now that I “got my mojo back”. That didn’t actually happen. Finders Keepers was written in 3 days and I’ve not really been able to write anything else since. I’ve been slowly working on The Witch’s Coven, which was also supposed to be done and published the same time as Finders Keepers, but that just didn’t happen. Real world got in the way… Finders Keepers is kind of my new favorite for right now. I’ve never dabbled in shifter stories before, but this one came to me and I couldn’t let it go. I had to write it. It gave me a confidence boost I’d been missing. Even if I’ve been struggling to get back to writing, FK is what keeps me smiling knowing that I can do it. I can write great stories and be an author. It’s what has made me take the leap and make this into a business and not just a hobby. And I jumped in head first. I’m investing in my brand, in my writing, in my readers, in you! I’m investing in those of you who are reading this, following me, rooting for me. I see you! (Probably not in the literal sense, but I see you supporting me). I see you when my stats say I have more views, when my newsletter has new subscribers! Thank you, and I hope you’ll stick around. I have some cool things in store. I’m getting this Author thing going, and I’m going to be thanking those of you who have been around with lots of fun goodies! I See You!
